Some conspiracy sites claim that this is a fake picture. This is not fake. The conspiracy sites intentionally misinterpret the ELA results. As described in the tutorials, ELA indicates that this is a resave and the metadata identifies Photoshop. All that means is that this is not the camera-original image. This is a picture from a media outlet that has been resized, cropped, and resaved. There is no indication of intentional or deceptive manipulation. The man who lost both legs in the explosion is 27-year-old Jeff Bauman. He's a real person and this photo is not a conspiracy-based "fake".

Prior to linking to this picture, the conspiracy sites liked to this picture, which visually looks the same but has artifacts from Facebook because it came from Facebook. They stopped linking to that picture after FotoForensics pointed out that they were intentionally misinterpreting the results.

And to the conspiracy sites that take offense at being called conspiracy sites: I call it like I see it. Claiming that a real event didn't happen is intentional ignorance and nothing more than a baseless conspiracy.
