Some web sites claim that this picture shows a real coin; this is an incorrect conclusion. The ELA result is dark, indicating multiple resaves. Multiple resaves normalize the error level potential and remove compression-level artifacts. In this case, ELA cannot be used to determine authenticity.

In contrast, other analysis methods identify that the coin was digitally added. For example, the coin is perfectly round -- it is perpendicular to the camera and has no motion blur. A real photo of a moving object (a flipping coin) should not be perfectly perpendicular to the lens and should have blending with the rest of the picture.
